What is Hunter Medicare Local?
Welcome to Hunter Medicare Local. Hunter Medicare Local is a not for profit organisation which provides high quality support services to primary health care clinicians in the Hunter region.
Our services are provided to GPs, physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists and other allied health professionals to improve healthcare in the local community. Alongside these services, our team provides unique programs like GP Access After Hours – the first after hours GP service of its kind in Australia, Connecting Care – a chronic disease management program with Registered Nurse Care Coordinators, the Closing the Gap program which aims to reduce the current disadvantage experienced by Indigenous Australians in the health sector and the Psychology Service, providing support to adults, families and children.

Report on the Election for Five Member-nominated Directors
In the election for Member–nominated Directors conducted by postal ballot ending Friday 9 November 2012 at 5.00 p.m. the following results were achieved:
At the close of polling at 5.00p.m. on Friday 9 November 2012, three hundred and twenty-seven (327) valid votes were received (34% of eligible voters). In addition, seven (7) envelopes containing ballot papers did not have the requisite member declaration and were declared invalid, and eight (8) ballots were received after the close of the poll and were not counted.
The counting of votes was conducted in accordance with the Hare Clarke proportional representation system, single transferable vote method.
There being five vacancies a quota for election was set at 56.
The successful candidates for election as Member-nominated Directors of Hunter Primary Care Ltd, are as follows:

Belinda Jane Guest
The two year term of office commences at the conclusion of this Annual General Meeting and ends at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting in 2014.

Hunter Medicare Local is the organisation funded by the Commonwealth Government to coordinate primary health care services in the Hunter Urban region and improve the health of the community.
We are keen to expand our membership to:
- clinicians working in primary health care in the region
- organisations delivering primary health care services
- organisations representing primary health care providers or the community
So please join us in working to improve the health of the Hunter community.
Membership is free.
Individual membership (Primary / voting membership) is open to Primary Health Care Clinicians.
Organisational membership (currently Associate Membership) is open to any incorporated organisation that wants to support the Company to improve health outcomes for the Hunter community
